CHAPTER FIFTY-THREE
Ruby's heart pounded loudly as her eyes ran over the Elders seated around the table. Noah sat by her side with her hand safely clasped in his that rested on his lap. There were seven seats on the table, and she sat on the one next to Noah and Linda by her other side—not wanting any other Elder to be beside her.
After Jericho's outburst, the situation was deemed a severe pack matter, and it had to be moved to the pack's conference hall. Gone was the delight that danced around the room at the sight of her wolf. Only heavy chains of tension hung in the air.
Worry bubbled inside her. Jericho sat directly opposite her, and his eyes still bore holes into her skull. He stared at her as if she would disappear if he looked away for a second.
The quietness that echoed in the room stretched for a decent amount of time. The aura was thick, and no one dared to speak and break the silence—Ruby was shocked that the blabbermouth Victor hadn't said anything.
