Chapter Thirty Nine- Bitter Truth
“I was the one who killed Mary Simmons and her unborn child.”
That was enough for Mia to pause. Her sobbing came to a slow stop. Her eyes still leaked tears but her shoulders no longer shook. It was interesting to see how a single statement could make one’s entire world change.
Words were powerful. People often spoke without remorse or thought for anything. That wasn’t right. Words had the power to change someone’s perception of something or someone. It was something that could evoke varying feelings. From love, to anger, to absolute soul crushing sadness.
It could make someone, lift them up to new heights where they were on top of the world. Other times, it could drag someone down till the pits of hell where nothing was guaranteed except for sadness and an eternity of heartache.
Mia had no idea where she belonged.
Her heart raced violently in her chest. The beat was so loud that it reverberated in her ears. Any other noise had been drowned out completely.
