Chapter 1 The Secret Affair.

With a test result in her right hand, Eleanor gripped the paper carefully like a treasure as she walked towards her car. She got into her car and zoomed out of the parking lot. On her way to her destination, Eleanor picked up her phone and called her husband, but he didn't answer. Eleanor knew her husband would never pick up her calls during working hours, but she decided to have faith due to the good news she had. She tried calling him many times, but it was fruitless. Even after her call was left unanswered, she didn't feel down; she said she was too happy to be sad. 'I need to tell him right now,' she mulled happily in her head. She made a U-turn immediately and drove to her husband's corporation. She has been married to her husband for three years, and the years haven't been easy for her. She got married to her husband Levi because her father wanted her to, but she fell in love with him the day she first met him, and she planned to make him feel the same. Eleanor hurried down from the car and walked into the company. She smiled as she entered the elevator, scanning her reflection properly as she caressed her tummy with care. She thought, 'I am sure he will be happy to hear this..’ She got out of the elevator and hurriedly walked towards her husband. Eleanor wasn't only happy about the news but also missed her husband and couldn't wait to see his beautiful face. She noticed an unusual silence around the office, and she could tell that the employees were already off work. She walked closer to his office, her face beaming with a smile. She didn't bother knocking since he didn't mention any appointment. She twisted the door knob and entered without hesitation. She walked in with her numbered steps. Eleanor's happy face turned pale, and her legs were rooted on the spot. Her breath became hotter than usual due to the anger she was suppressing. “Eleanor!” A fragile voice panicked as she picked up her scattered dress inside Levi's offices. Position two almost made him lose her mind; she never thought of the scene her whole life. Levi was never gentle with her, but she didn't expect such character from him. “What is going on here?” She took her time to say those words because she couldn't believe her eyes as the smell of alcohol hit her nose. There were bottles of wine scattered inside his office. He wasn't an alcoholic, but the sight of his office says otherwise. Seeing her best friend, whom she had known since she was a child, and her husband, whom she loved so much, in such a position was never a betrayal, but a hell on earth that was her greatest nightmare. Her sanity was battling with a broken heart, but her quivering hand was placed on her belly, giving her a reminder of how careful she must be. Levi sneered at her question. “You are not stupid; I bet you will do well with anyone explaining this to you,” he looked away from her after uttering such harsh words. Evelyn, Eleanor's best friend, snickered at her when she saw how Levi treated her. “How long have you two been seeing each other!” She yelled angrily. She tried to control her anger, but it was all in vain because she thought a day would come when Levi would treat her in such a way. “Why don't you calm down? Don't act like a wife here. We both know you are in this marriage for a benefit,” Evelyn smirked; seeing Eleanor in such a situation made her feel like she won a trophy. Eleanor's father's company was going bankrupt, and the only way to save it was to get married to Levi. They both agreed to get married since that was his grandfather's wish. She never thought Evelyn, her best friend, could betray her after knowing how much she was crazy for him. It might have been an arranged marriage, but her love was genuine. “You are my best friend!” She roared, taking brisk steps to her. Evelyn was scared of seeing her deadly glare, and she almost ran, but Levi interrupted her track. “Don't you dare touch me!” Eleanor slapped his hands away. “You cheating bastard!” She flared up. She was confused and heartbroken at the same time. She didn't know who to blame or how to act; the only thing she could think of was her husband. She thought, staring at him with her misty eyeballs. 'You love me; you shouldn't have done this to me!’ “Stop acting like a victim here! We are both married because, for some reason, I never loved you, and I never stopped you from doing whatever you want!” Levi sneered. “What are you saying?! I loved you,” Eleanor mumbled the last words as she bit her lips, trying to suppress the tears forming in the corner of her eyes. “That's the problem with you; I never asked you to!” He exclaimed, acting like a real jerk. Levi tried every means to avoid her gaze, but Eleanor kept fixing her figure before him. Her jaw dropped hearing her beloved husband say such harsh words to her. “You don't mean it,” her voice trembled saying it, which almost sounded like a whisper. ‘Vivi is not this cruel,' Eleanor mulled in her head, trying to convince herself to wake up from the nightmare. Vivi is the name she usually calls him whenever she is alone. “You sl*t!” Eleanor charged towards Evelyn, blaming her for her husband's attitude towards her, but Levi stopped her. “Eleanor, stop acting crazy and go home!” Evelyn laughed at her mockingly as she acted crazy. “How could you do this to me? I always tell you everything,” she mumbled angrily. “Go home!” Levi repeated, and this time, he was more serious and aggressive. She shook and looked at him in disgust as if she could never hide. She fought within herself not to cry in front of him, but her eyes betrayed her. She stared at Levi, keeping her gaze fixed on his. Levi avoided her gaze because he couldn't stand locking gaze with her. He felt his heart tighten as tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably. He didn't show emotions, but he was battling with his guilt. 'Please leave,' he pleaded inwardly, not wanting to see her in such a state. His expression was still stiff and cold despite his feelings. “We still have some business to finish; if you don't mind, excuse us,” Evelyn said, putting more pressure on her pain. Eleanor's eyes widened upon hearing such a statement from her. But she couldn't do anything; her strength was minimal, and she was being considerate. She placed her hand on her lower abdomen and stared at Levi, who didn't see the gesture because he was busy avoiding her gaze. She laughed loudly like she lost an important screw in her head. “I will leave now,” she uttered with her dey voice, her throat parched, and she couldn't hold the sadness in her voice. Levi turned his head slowly to look at the woman, who just laughed crazily and decided to go without any more trouble. 'What is wrong with her?’ he thought worriedly.
