Chapter 56: THE PRESENT

LORENZO’S P.O.V. It felt like I had all the pieces and yet I was still missing something. I had no idea what was missing and how I was supposed to put everything together. I had asked Matteo to try looking into Isabella’s parents but he came to the same conclusion that my father did- he couldn’t find them. it was infuriating because that felt like the last piece of the puzzle and somehow I knew I wasn’t going to figure it out until I found Isabella. She knew something about it and she was hiding it but the question was why. Every day, I sat down in my office staring at everything we had acquired so far but nothing stood out to me. Leo couldn’t understand why I was so busy and I didn’t know how to explain it to him. I didn’t want to get his hopes up when I wasn’t even sure where I stood in the grand scheme of things. I tried to spend as much time with him but I was no replacement for Isabella and we both knew it. “Lorenzo,” I was ready to snap at whoever had called my name before I
