Chapter 30 He Stood Up
"A clear conscience, huh? Even if your conscience is clear, why won't you even touch alcohol, Elinor? How much of what you're saying is actually true?"
From the moment they had met, Elinor had consistently pushed his boundaries. Seizing her hand, Jaxson pulled her toward him and abruptly stood up from his wheelchair.
Seeing him stand, his legs apparently unimpaired, Elinor widened her eyes in disbelief. "So your legs have been fine all along. You've just kept it hidden."
"I wonder who's the deceiver here."
Elinor gritted her teeth. She was no match for Jaxson. Otherwise, why would he be holding her wrist so firmly?
Just as she had anticipated, Jaxson's hand ended up around Elinor's neck. She struggled to breathe. "You really never learn, do you? Maybe it's time to lay down some ground rules!"
Jaxson was never a gentle person. Deep down, he carried an inherent ruthlessness. When he set his mind on something, there was little he could not accomplish. Everyone could sense that
