Chapter 25 Difficult to Part With

Lilian knew how much Elinor cherished her relationship with her boyfriend because the two women were good friends. Even though they had plans to meet up, the next time they met each other turned out to be a discussion over Elinor's breakup. Ordinarily quite talkative, Lilian found herself at a loss for words. Anything she said felt like a knife jabbing into her best friend's heart. "That's fine. It's better to find out what kind of person he is sooner than later," Lilian said. "Enough about that jerk. Life will get better without him in it." Lilian had not met the man but gathered from Elinor's past conversations that he seemed like a good person. However, finding out the truth about him sooner was certainly better than later. "Listen, my dad advised me on this. Maybe you should reconsider taking over your family's company. You haven't even graduated yet. It's too much for you to handle right now." Lilian's concern for her friend deepened. It felt like all the misfortunes wer
