Chapter 24 A Strange Feeling

Elinor sat down on a swing, gazing at the stars in the sky. The surrounding streetlights cast a hazy yet beautiful glow on her face. As she looked at the myriad of stars above her, she felt an indescribable sense of relaxation. Unconsciously, a faint smile appeared on her face. Jaxson, sitting inside a customized Rolls-Royce parked in front of the manor, looked out and caught sight of Elinor. Normally, she was always on the defensive, full of sharp edges, and ready to fend off anyone who might hurt her, especially around Jaxson himself. Elinor would put up all her defenses, rejecting and resisting him. Whenever they were together, her eyes seemed to show nothing but fear and defiance. He had never seen her so peaceful and gentle before. Captivated, he found himself momentarily lost in thought. She was a truly contradictory woman. Despite despising her own father, she was willing to take over a mess of a situation. Despite hating him and wanting to break free from his control, she k
