Chapter 13 Left Without Saying Goodbye
Renee could only ask Zarek for Candy the next time she met him.
"Where's Candy now?" Rita asked.
"With my friend."
Her relationship with Zarek was too complicated, so Renee could only tell Rita they were friends first.
Rita didn't suspect and took Renee to her residential area.
Rita's parents bought her this house, with three bedrooms and two living rooms. The decoration was exquisite and warm.
"I feel alone living here. You can stay with me for now. That's your bedroom." Rita lifted her chin towards the southeast and casually threw a key to Renee.
Renee was still in a daze, and Rita gave her another bank card.
"There are ten thousand in the card. The password is my birthday."
Renee was stunned. She knew Rita's family was doing small businesses. Ten thousand was a bit much for her.
Besides, she was grateful enough for Rita's taking her in.
"No, I..."
Before Renee could refuse, Rita interrupted, "Pay me back after you get a salary. Also, cook for me during this time to offset the rent."
Renee looked at the bank card, and warmth surged in her heart, making it soften like cotton.
"Thank you."
Renee's eyes were slightly red. Holding the bank card, she determined to become stronger and not let everyone down.
Renee cooked lunch and sent resumes to companies via email in the afternoon.
On the other side, at the hospital.
Zarek, who had just arrived from the company, learned from the doctor that Renee had left.
He picked up the paper on the coffee table, and the graceful handwriting appeared, with only a short paragraph.
"Mr. Macleod, thank you very much for your care in the past few days, but I still have a lot of things to do, and it's inconvenient for me to stay in the hospital for a long time. I will repay you if I have the opportunity one day."
Zarek raised his eyebrows in surprise. He didn't expect Renee to give him a note before leaving.
"Mr. Macleod, do you need me to investigate her whereabouts?" Steve asked.
Zarek casually curved his lips and said, "No need. Her cat is still with me."
Zarek gave a feeling of having everything under his control.
He was like a cunning old fox.
...
Two days had passed. Renee was still submitting resumes.
Because she married Nevin immediately after graduation, she lacked work experience, and a three-year gap prevented many companies from even giving her interviews.
Large companies wouldn't accept her, and some small and medium-sized companies politely refused her for various strange reasons.
Rita was holding a beer can and leaning against the table in her sexy pajamas, watching Renee deliver her resume.
"Have you received interview notifications yet?"
"Two, but I didn't send them my resume. Their HR came to me. I've never heard about them before. I can't find any information about them online, either. It's strange."
"Oh, how about I go with you tomorrow? I happen to be on holiday."
Renee nodded. This was the best choice. There were no other opportunities now.
"Thank you," she said.
It was already late at night. Rita went to her bed first.
Not long after Rita left, Renee received a strange call.
"Hello? May I ask who's there?"
The one on the other end sneered disdainfully, "Who am I, my dear sister?"
Renee's face turned cold. Irina knew she wouldn't answer her call, so she specially changed the number.
"Irina, what do you want to do?"
"I heard you've been looking for a job lately?"
"How do you..." Suddenly, something crucial flashed through Renee's mind, and she quickly responded, "It's you!"
Those large companies didn't lack talent. It was relatively normal for them not to give her an interview. But even small companies refused her. It was too suspicious.
She had already suspected it before, and now she was sure that Irina and her team had really done something!
They even wanted to cut off her last hope for life!
Irina's voice was contemptuous and arrogant. "Of course, it's me. I'm telling you, I've already warned the companies in this industry. If they hire someone like you, a woman who cheats on marriage, they will lose their reputation!"
Irina was a well-known internet celebrity with millions of fans. It was easy for her to tarnish a company.
At that moment, Renee calmed down instead.
"What exactly do you want?"
"It's a small matter. I heard you had caused trouble for my company and took away my key employee, so I want you to come over and kneel to me and Nevin to apologize."
Renee sneered, "Dream on. You really dare call white black. You drove him out, but you say I took him away."
"Renee, think it over. You only have one chance. If you don't catch it, don't blame me for being rude." Irina threatened fiercely, "As long as I'm here, you can't enter this industry!"
"Then let's wait and see. Maybe you'll die tomorrow."
Renee sneered and hung up without hesitation.
On the other end, Irina was so angry that she smashed her phone and screamed, "Bitch!"
Ryan approached and said, "Mr. Johnston, I heard that two companies have asked her for interviews."
"Who?!" Irina's eyes were filled with impatience.
She wanted to know who dared provoke her now.
Ryan sneered, "Two shell companies. With Renee's experience, no regular companies would accept her."
"Shell company?"
Malice flashed in Irina's eyes. Since Renee didn't accept her kindness, she should bear the consequences.
If something happened to Renee in a shell company, she could blame no one, right?
"I need the contact information of the bosses of those two companies."
Ryan, who had already understood what Irina was thinking, smiled wickedly and said, "Yes."
The next day, at nine o'clock in the morning.
Renee went to the first company. She arrived at the office building at the agreed interview time.
Renee observed this company and found it was indeed small, with only one floor for office use and only a few people. It seemed to be doing internet sales by live streaming.
After the customary greeting and self-introduction, Renee handed over her resume.
"This is my resume. Please take a look."
The HR absentmindedly flipped through a few pages and shook his head at Renee, "No, you don't meet our requirements."
Renee was not foolish either. She keenly felt his perfunctory.
When she chatted with this HR online yesterday, he was enthusiastic, but today he had changed.
She looked at the HR, who had a somewhat evasive expression, and suddenly smiled, "Your excuse is so unconvincing. If I don't meet the requirements, why did you repeatedly ask me to come here yesterday?"
