215: She's The Bad One

Drake and I settled at the table, with Kimberly’s icy reception still hanging in the air. We were just starting to break the tension when a group of children burst into the restaurant. Their faces flushed with excitement. They chattered loudly, and their eyes lit up when they spotted the ice cream counter.
Without warning, they dashed over, practically trampling each other in their eagerness. I noticed them making a beeline for our table, their eyes fixed on the remnants of our cones.
“Look! They have ice cream!” one of the kids exclaimed, pointing at our leftovers.
Kimberly’s eyes narrowed as she stood up. “Hey! You kids need to get back,” she said, her tone sharp and authoritative. “This isn’t a place for you to be running around.”
The children hesitated, glancing at each other with a mixture of confusion and disappointment. I could see their little faces fall, and it tugged at something in me. I stood up and walked over to them, a soft smile on my face.
