Chapter 19
“Doctor…” There was a violent tremble to Summer’s voice, and she was stuttering as she spoke, “Please, save my baby… Please.”
Adrian lowered his head, and the sight made him so shocked that he clenched his fist.
The white towel was dyed crimson.
“Summer! Summer!”
“Please… Save my baby…
“Please…”
Summer kept begging Adrian, and she was quivering so violently that her entire body was numb.
Jasper only cared about whether Victoria was dead or alive. He wished for her death!
“Don’t be scared.” Adrian comforted Summer by patting her back as he carried her. “It’s okay, your baby is okay.”
The ambulance had arrived. Jasper placed Victoria on the gurney, and his hands and feet were numb as he looked at the crimson towel beneath Summer.
A chill ran down his spine.
“Summer, if anything happens to Victoria, I’ll never let you off the hook!” He pointed at Summer as he warned her before entering the ambulance and shutting the door with a bang.
He had no plans of letting Summer into the ambulance as well.
Since she relied on Adrian so much, he would just let Adrian rescue her.
She was merely an idiot.
An idiot.
But for some unknown reason, there was confusion in Jasper’s heart. Extreme confusion.
The siren of the ambulance slowly faded into the distance as Summer’s breaths became weaker and weaker.
“What’s going on?” Samson walked toward the garden from the parking lot and glanced at the bloody towel on the ground as well as the puddle of water beside the pool.
“The young mistress of the Dawn family, Victoria Dawn, drowned just now. The ambulance had just left. Should we go over and check on her?” the butler said in a soft voice.
“Who is she to me? Why would I check on her?” Samson furrowed his eyebrows coldly. He had no intention of caring about whether Victoria was dead or alive.
He had been looking for Summer in the mall all afternoon, and he was very agitated to begin with.
“Ah…” The butler choked on his words, and he quickly changed the topic. “The master is waiting for you.”
Samson turned to glance at the bloody towel on the ground again without being aware of it, and for some reason, he felt a pang in his heart.
‘Sum...
‘It’s snowing.
‘It’s snowing in Sea City.’
Summer was born in Country M, and she had never seen the snow in Sea City.
Summer had always wanted to witness this scene, and it pained Samson to be standing amid the snow right now.
It was snowing very heavily, and the snow lasted all night.
It only took a night for all the buildings in Sea City to be covered in a layer of glistening snow.
It was already morning by the time Summer woke up.
She did not know how long she had spent unconscious. She seemed to have dreamed about a man… That man hugged her in a gentle and affectionate manner, and he said that he would bring her to Sea City to witness the first snow.
“Jaz…” Summer uttered without being aware of it. She reached out her hand toward the rays of sunlight.
But even though the sun was shining brightly, Summer was feeling so cold that she was trembling.
It was warm in the ward, so why was she chilled to the bone?
“Summer!”
There was a loud bang, and Jasper was burning with rage as he barged into the ward. “How dare you push Vic into the water! Do you know that she’s having a fever and a lung infection!?”
Summer slowly sat up, and she did not look into Jasper’s eyes.
“Speak!” Jasper could barely contain his anger when he saw that Summer refused to look at him.
Jasper clutched Summer’s chin so hard that her bones were cracking, and Summer’s tears immediately rolled down her cheeks. “If I say that it wasn’t me, would you believe in me?”
“Summer, do you take me for an idiot? I saw you pushing Vic into the pond with my own eyes!” Jasper did not believe Summer at all.
“Jaz… Have you ever loved me, even just a little?” Summer smiled, but more and more tears were rolling down her cheeks. “What is my place in your heart?”
Jasper’s hand froze, and he let go of Summer’s chin without being aware of it. He slowly took a few steps backward.
He did not end up speaking more cruel words to her.
“The baby is gone, and this is your karma. We are strangers from now onward.” Jasper said coldly as he turned and was about to leave.
Summer was trembling violently as she sat on the hospital bed, and her hands were weak as she lifted the blanket to look at her belly.
“Jaz, if I had managed to give birth to a healthy baby, were you planning to snatch it away from me and give it to Victoria?” There was a violent tremble to Summer’s voice, but she was trying to sound as clear as possible.
Jasper stopped in his tracks, but he did not turn. “Was this why you pushed Vic into the pond?”
Summer clenched her fists so hard that her nails were cutting into her palms, and her heart was aching so badly that she felt like she was dying.
“Jasper, if I die one day, will you be sad?” Summer was feeling horribly dizzy as she swallowed her tears.
Her throat was filled with the metallic taste of blood.
“Go ahead and die, then!”
*Bang!* Jasper slammed the door forcefully.
Summer numbly got out of bed. Her field of vision turned back, and she fell to the floor.
As it seemed, when a person was in tremendous pain and despair, she would not be able to cry.
*Blurb!* There was an acute sense of suffocation in her chest. Summer’s field of vision was blurry as she gazed at the blood on the floor that she had vomited out.
“Sorry...
“Sorry…
“Sorry…”
Summer apologized non-stop to her miscarried baby as she caressed her belly.
‘I’m so sorry, baby.
‘I’m sorry.’
“Where’s the patient?” After Adrian was done making ward rounds, he opened the door to Summer’s ward. He turned to ask about her whereabouts when he saw that she was gone.
“I don’t know. She was still unconscious just now.”
Adrian subconsciously tightened his grip on his pen. He then turned and ran out of the ward.
