Chapter 10
But after some time, unless he wanted to have s*x with her, he would not show even the slightest hint of affection toward her.
“This one…” Summer looked at the prices of the cell phones on the display counter and carefully pointed at the cheapest one.
Adrian raised his hand to massage the space between his eyebrows. He was having a little bit of a headache.
“Are you sure?” There were so many cell phones that cost a few thousand dollars. Why would she choose an outdated cell phone, which only cost around three or four hundred dollars? Was she being serious?
“I… I only know how to answer calls. It would be a waste for me to get one of the more expensive ones.” Summer smiled. She was being extremely careful with her words.
Adrian felt a pang in his chest. To him, Summer looked much uglier when she was smiling as compared to when she was crying.
If his sugar babies were even half as obedient and mature as Summer was, he would not have avoided settling down with a woman until now.
......
“This one please. Thank you.” Adrian did not purchase the outdated cell phone Summer had said she wanted. Instead, he chose a newer model, which was smaller and more convenient to use. “I’ll teach you how to use it.”
Summer raised her head nervously to look at Adrian. She could not quite believe what was happening. “You’ll teach me?”
“We’re living in the age of the internet now. Life would be very boring if you don’t learn how to use a cell phone properly. You would even be able to forget Jasper after spending more time on your phone,” Adrian said in a half-joking manner. He then led Summer downstairs and went into a cafe where he ordered a cup of coffee and a few dessert items.
Summer loved sweet things, but Jasper did not, and Jasper never cared about what Summer liked to eat either.
“Wow, there’s no buttons. How strange!” The sim card had been inserted into the cell phone, and Summer looked curiously at the screen. She carefully tapped on the screen. “I know how to make and answer calls…”
Adrian was quite patient as he taught Summer how to use the cell phone. He was thinking about reading up on the information and medical records related to Summer’s hospitalization after her accident last year.
She had suffered from brain trauma and had completely lost her memory. Adrian was really curious about whether Summer was also this meek and timid in the past.
In the middle of the square.
Jasper had proposed to Victoria again. She said yes, this time with the condition that he had to secretly get his hands on a baby and make it known to the public that the baby was theirs. Only then would he be able to announce their marriage.
Jasper agreed to the conditions, but he felt a little uncomfortable about them.
Victoria did not seem to want the outside world to know that they were together.
“Jasper, the Dawn Corporation is facing some problems with regards to their funding. My dad asked me to ask you if you would be willing to help us out,” Victoria asked in a probing tone. Now that the proposal was a success, Victoria wanted to reap the benefits of it by asking Jasper to help her family’s company out.
“Jasper?”
Jasper did not respond even after a long time.
She raised her head a little nervously to look at Jasper, but his eyes were grim as his gaze was fixed on the back of a person sitting in the cafe.
“Jasper? Do you know them?”
Jasper furrowed his brows. The aura he was emanating was very cold as he turned his head away to glance at Victoria. “No.”
The woman in front of him once looked like she had refused to give up on him no matter what. But now it seemed like she was enjoying quite a good relationship with Adrian!
Victoria could sense the cold aura Jasper was emanating, and she anxiously grasped her hands together.
The slender silhouette in the cafe did seem a little familiar to her…
“Alright, you know how to use it now, right? I asked my subordinate to buy a blanket as well as some clothes for you and to send them over to your place. They’re probably done tidying it up by now too. Let’s get going?”
Adrian glanced at his watch as he left the cafe together with Summer.
“Ah… Mr. Miller…” Summer was distracted as she walked, and she almost crashed into Jasper.
Jasper wore an extremely cold expression as he glanced at Summer. His gaze then fell on Adrian.
Adrian shrugged. He was already used to that. “Yo, what a coincidence.”
“It’s quite a coincidence.” Jasper said through gritted teeth.
“Vic, it’s been a few years. I see that being in Country M has made you even more alluring than before. Is it because of a certain someone?” Adrian glanced at Victoria. There was a hidden layer to his words, and his tone was mocking as he spoke.
Victoria gave Adrian a guilty glance, and slowly moved to hide herself behind Jasper.
Jasper looked at Adrian in annoyance and gave him a warning glare to protect Victoria.
Summer could feel tears welling up in his eyes. Jasper was not willing to even spare her a glance.
“Let’s go?” Adrian asked in a soft voice when he saw that Summer was standing rooted to the spot without knowing what to do.
“Wait!” Victoria called out all of a sudden, her tone a mixture of shocked and frightened.
Everyone turned to look at her in unison, not knowing what was going on.
“You!” there was fear in Victoria’s eyes, and her voice and fingers were trembling violently.
Victoria stared at Summer in disbelief for a long time.
“No…”
This was impossible. It was impossible that she was still alive.
This was impossible...
