Chapter 40 Suspected Kidnapping
Aaron chose not to answer the difficult question.
I had anticipated his silence. I wasn't seeking his response or pleading for an answer that would satisfy me. I simply needed to release my pent-up emotions.
"Get out. I want to be alone to calm down," I said harshly.
However, he remained at the door.
Perhaps my behavior had raised suspicions about me in his mind. Was I still the timid person who dared not raise my voice to him? His hair had grown a bit longer, partially obscuring his eyes. Without being able to see his expression, I stopped looking at him.
"Eat something," he said.
I stayed silent, and he didn't scold me for not responding. Instead, he instructed the maid to prepare fish soup for me.
"I'm not hungry. I just ate; I'm still full."
In the past, if he had ordered the maid to cook for me, I would have eaten no matter how full I was. I had never declined his offer twice to his face before.
