CHAPTER 16 A FATHER'S PLEA

To say Jake was shocked was an understatement. He had expected Samantha to come out and beg him to take her out of it. He has even anticipated it. Samantha instead sat beside him, smiling at Erica as they whispered something to themselves. "Jake Simon Devon! My baby." Jake jumped from his seat and came face to face with his outstanding aunt, Aunt Cassandra. She walked briskly to him and hugged him tightly, her eyes teary. Jake was pleased to see her. She looked behind him and gasped as her eyes landed on Samantha. She looked at him, asking an unsaid question. Jake nodded, and she quickly bypassed him and walked over to Samantha, who was already standing. Samantha looked small before her, but she was chubby and wholesome. Cassandra pulled her into a hug and confessed. "You're even prettier in person." She held her face in her palm. " How did we become so lucky?" Samantha was smiling so much that Jake feared for her cheeks. "Come, sit with me." She said as she led her to her seat.
