Tristan's fists clenched at his sides. He took a few steps forward, fixing her with a cold glare. "Are you saying that our marriage has wronged you?"
Genevieve was speechless.
The man seemed to have difficulty understanding what was being said. She no longer wished to continue the conversation with him. It was a struggle to communicate effectively with him. The scent of alcohol emanated from his breath.
Genevieve shifted gears, "Looks like you've been drinking. Want me to whip up some hangover soup for you?"
"Stop offering that useless kindness. I'm not drunk!"
Genevieve inhaled sharply and rested her back against the headboard, choosing not to speak. Whatever she said was wrong anyway. It was easier to just stay quiet.
