Chapter 7 The Troublemaker
The manager wiped the sweat from his forehead, not answering the man's question. Instead, he looked at Clara, who was equally unhappy. "Ms. Edwards, the person in charge wants to see you."
To see her?
Clara frowned, suddenly remembering something. Annoyance flashed in her eyes. "Let's find another store."
She had forgotten one thing. Riley had a stake in Bluorizon.
This was most likely Riley's doing.
Daniel paused for a moment but didn't question further. "Okay, let's find another store. We can stay in a hotel for now, and I’ll have the furniture shipped directly from overseas."
Clara nodded.
But as they took a couple of steps forward, they were stopped by someone coming up behind them.
"Clara! Didn't you hear me calling you?" Riley, in high heels, blocked their path, glaring at Clara fiercely. But her gaze paused for a moment when she noticed Daniel.
Daniel was devilishly handsome and dressed in a flashy manner, naturally drawing the envy of many wealthy women.
Riley, seeing such a handsome man following Clara, felt a surge of jealousy. Tilting her chin arrogantly, she spoke, "Clara, you're no longer Mrs. Garcia. You don't have the qualifications to buy things here. It's for your own good that I'm not allowing you to buy them. Since you're divorced, you shouldn't be spending Matthew's money anymore!"
Clara scoffed at the remark. "Do you think I care about Matthew's money?"
Her cold tone made Matthew, who was lurking nearby, furrow his brows.
David had just informed him that Clara was furniture shopping with Daniel, and he rushed over with a sense of urgency. He hadn't expected to hear those words as soon as he arrived!
Clara seemed so impatient to start a new life with someone else, openly shopping for furniture with another man.
Unnoticed by the trio, Riley's face twisted momentarily at Clara's words. She glanced meaningfully at Daniel before saying, "Clara, I was wondering why you suddenly divorced Matthew. Now I understand... Mr. Lewis, please forgive me for being blunt..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Daniel interrupted impatiently, "If so, don't say it."
Riley choked, then suddenly saw a figure standing in the distance. Excitedly, she called out, "Matthew! What brings you here?"
Clara instinctively turned her head to look behind her. Matthew had approached them, his expression clearly not good.
"Mr. Garcia, it's an honor to meet you."
Daniel smiled politely, stepping forward to shake hands and inadvertently creating some distance between Matthew and Clara.
Matthew noticed this gesture, seeing it as a protective measure as if Daniel was afraid he might do something to Clara, whom he valued so much.
Seeing Daniel's protective behavior, Matthew became even more convinced that there was something between them.
He didn't extend his hand. Instead, his cold gaze remained fixed on Daniel, full of icy sarcasm. "Mr. Lewis, I recall that you rarely associate with others. How come you're so familiar with my ex-wife as if you've known her for years?"
Clara remained silent, giving Matthew a glance but not saying anything.
Daniel withdrew his hand with a slight smile, not bothered by Matthew's attitude. Instead, he intentionally looked back at Clara with a teasing wink. "Mr. Garcia, I've known Clara much longer than you have. It's understandable that you wouldn't know."
Matthew didn't like hearing this at all, and his frown deepened.
His gaze shifted to Daniel's back. Clara showed no intention of speaking up, clearly tacitly agreeing with Daniel's words.
Daniel, noticing Matthew's gaze, moved to completely block his view. "Now that Clara is out of trouble, as a friend, I naturally want to give her something. However, Mr. Garcia, I just didn’t expect your cousin to have such great power."
Riley's heart trembled upon meeting Matthew's gaze. Her voice shook as she spoke, "Matthew, I was just worried that Clara would spend your money on others, so I had someone stop her. I originally intended to give her this set of furniture as a gesture of goodwill, but I didn’t expect to be misunderstood."
Her aggrieved appearance made Clara couldn't help but smirk. "Ms. Scott, since you are so kind, I'll accept this gift."
Riley was taken aback, perhaps not expecting Clara to actually accept it.
Feeling flustered at the thought of furniture costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, she stammered, "No, I..."
"Ms. Scott, could it be that everything you said just now was just empty words?" Daniel’s voice was cold, his tone mocking.
