Chapter 17 The Explosive News
Matthew frowned even deeper at his words.
He really didn't understand what kind of spell Clara had cast on Andrew.
Andrew was so fixated on her!
"Grandpa, you should rest first. There's still work to be done at the company, so I'll come see you later."
Without waiting for Andrew to speak, Matthew had already left the room.
Andrew took care of Matthew since he was a little girl and knew him very well.
Matthew's current attitude clearly indicated that he didn't want to hear any of this, deliberately finding an excuse to leave!
"Hey, how stubborn!" Andrew looked helpless. He didn't know how to repair the relationship between them.
He also understood that even if he went to find Clara about this, it might not change her mind.
"Mr. Andrew, do you know that Ms. Edwards is Sovereign?"
Andrew was taken aback. "What?"
Back home, Clara collapsed exhausted on the sofa. After smelling the perfume she had specially blended in the air, she felt some of her fatigue dissipate.
Thinking about what happened at the hospital today, she took out her phone and sent a message.
Soon, the phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Clara answered nonchalantly, "Did you find out?"
"Yes. This guy named Isaac is a student at Kivergoe Medical College. He used to treat minor illnesses for people. It seems that Lillian spent some effort, but couldn't find the right person, so she brought him over."
"How coincidental, running into you like that. It's quite amusing."
Daniel's laughter came from the phone as Clara stood up and slowly closed the perfume bottle.
"You know how to handle this."
Impersonating someone was no small matter.
If those people weren't treated properly and Isaac shifted the blame to her, it would only be more troublesome.
"I've already arranged for someone to handle it. I'm having Isaac explain to the patients he treated before."
Clara was naturally satisfied with this handling.
"Anything else?"
Seeing that Daniel didn't seem to want to hang up, Clara guessed that there was something else.
As expected, Daniel's voice became more serious.
"About the Taylor family."
At the mention of the Taylor family, Clara's hand holding the phone unconsciously tightened, and a deep hatred flashed in her eyes!
The Taylor family in Kivergoe was where she had lived for thirteen years, but at the age of thirteen, her mother died in an accident while on a business trip, and Aiden Taylor, her father, revealed his true colors.
Three days after her mother's death, he brought Cheryl Taylor and Laura Taylor back and not only announced their marriage but also declared Cheryl as her stepmother. Laura was even two months older than Clara!
While Cheryl and Laura seemed kind to Clara on the surface, behind her back, they were either hitting or scolding her, even forcing Clara to change her surname to her mother's.
Aiden not only demanded shares when she was eighteen but also tried to manipulate her several times, all without success.
Finally, three years ago, he hired someone to kill Clara while she was out.
Also at that time, she coincidentally encountered Andrew.
Under the protection of the Garcia family, it allowed her to live peacefully for three years.
Now, with the news of Matthew divorcing her making headlines, the Taylor family wouldn't just sit back and do nothing now that they knew she was still alive!
"I figured."
Suppressing the hatred in her heart, Clara said, "Have someone keep an eye on the Taylor family. As soon as they arrive in Halcyon Bay, notify me immediately."
After getting Daniel's reply, she hung up the phone.
It had been a long day, and after clearing her mind of these thoughts, Clara went upstairs to rest early.
After all, there was a race tomorrow, and as for Lillian... Clara's eyes flashed with a hint of cunning.
At the Taylor family in Kivergoe, in the extremely luxurious living room, a slender and beautiful woman sat on the sofa, looking no more than thirty years old.
Elegantly stirring the coffee cup in her hand, she looked like someone who enjoyed the good life.
"Laura, what's the rush? Clara just had a bit of luck and married into the Garcia family, so she lived three more years. Now that you're saying they're divorced, dealing with Clara shouldn't be difficult."
Beside her, Laura, dressed in the latest designer clothes, with a pair of innocent-looking large eyes, was now full of sarcasm, destroying her beauty.
She handed the tablet to Cheryl. "Mom, look. This is Matthew."
As Laura looked at the man's face on the screen, her eyes couldn't hide her jealousy.
"The Garcia family in Halcyon Bay is not much better than us."
Cheryl glanced at the tablet screen and her voice showed a hint of defiance.
What was the status of the Garcia family in Halcyon Bay? Even though the Taylor family now had a foothold in Kivergoe thanks to Clara's mother's efforts, compared to the Garcia family, they were still a class apart.
"Why does Clara get such a good opportunity?" Laura exclaimed angrily, tossing the tablet to the ground.
Seeing the shattered screen, she felt a bit better.
"Alright, we'll see what your dad decides when he comes back."
As Cheryl spoke, Aiden walked in with a black face.
Obviously, business wasn't going well.
"What's wrong?" Cheryl quickly put down her coffee cup and went over, showing a caring expression.
She displayed a gentle and amiable demeanor.
It made Aiden's mood improve a bit. "We have a problem with the contract with the Moore Group. Mr. Moore said his mother was sick and asked me to find someone named Sovereign. Where am I supposed to find Sovereign?"
Sovereign?
Cheryl frowned. "Hasn't Sovereign been absent for three years? Mr. Moore is clearly trying to make things difficult for us!"
Aiden, in his mid-forties, didn't have the typical belly of a businessman. Perhaps it was because he had served in the military for a few years in his early days, giving him a demeanor full of masculinity. However, the calculations that occasionally surfaced in his eyes exposed the ambitions and dark side hidden in his heart.
"Clara is Sovereign?"
Laura's surprised voice rang out, catching the attention of the two.
Aiden furrowed his brow. "Who?"
Laura's eyes flashed as she covered up her resentful expression, revealing her usual obedient appearance. "Dad, look at this news. The news says Clara is Sovereign. No wonder Sovereign hasn't been heard from in three years. But since Clara is Sovereign, why didn't she tell you?"
The report was not groundless. It was a tweet of appreciation from Sharon.
She clearly stated that Clara, her former daughter-in-law, had treated Andrew as Sovereign.
Sovereign was already a well-known figure in the medical field, and news about Sovereign had always been secretive.
Even if someone tried to investigate, they wouldn't know if Sovereign was a man or a woman.
Now that Sharon had revealed it, it had caused quite a stir online!
After he carefully read the content on the tablet, Aiden's initial doubts were gradually replaced by excitement!
Cheryl glanced at the screen and urged with a smile. "Aiden, today is really a double blessing. We not only found Clara but also knew she was Sovereign. I'm sure Clara would be willing to help you treat Mrs. Moore."
Aiden obviously also thought of this.
"Don't rush. I'll give Mrs. Garcia a call to confirm it."
