Chapter 112 Clara's Returning
Over a year's worth of pent-up emotions erupted in that moment.
The forceful kiss left Clara breathless.
She pushed against him with all her strength.
"Matthew, get up," she gasped.
Matthew's body was hunched slightly, and the tip of his trembling nose brushed against Clara's cheek, causing her to flinch away in panic.
"Clara, don't go," his voice, low and raspy, sounded as if it had been soaked in the sea.
No matter how much Clara struggled, Matthew's arms held her tightly, refusing to let go.
In the dim moonlight, Clara noticed Matthew's damp eyelashes, glistening with tiny specks of light around his eyes.
"Why have you been gone for more than a year without a trace?" What was meant to be a demand came out soft and weak.
He lowered his head onto Clara's shoulder and asked quietly, "Where did you go?"
Clara pressed her lips together, remaining silent. She was utterly shocked by the expression in Matthew's eyes.
She never expected to see Matthew in tears. He looked so fragil
