Chapter 10
James hung up Faith's phone violently and coldly ordered the secretary behind him to push his afternoon schedule, and then hurriedly drove to Lewis' old house.
While on the road, Faith's words were still lingering in his ears:
Didn’t my sister-in-law mention divorce with you at grandpa’s birthday party last night? Mom said that you blamed your dad for having to force you to marry her. As a result, your unhappy marriage with my sister-in-law resulted to divorce. Mom said she hated dad because he ruined your life's happiness, so she doesn't want to have trouble with dad anymore.
James was a little irritated. He lowered all the windows of the car and let the wind outside blow away his anxiety.
The relationship between his father and his mother has been deadlocked since his father was suddenly exposed five years ago when he had an illegitimate child who was older than him. It was just that James did not expect that this time his mother, who had always been gentle and graceful, would even mention take the first move to divorce him.
As for the relationship between his father and mother, he is often reluctant to know more about them because he always sees the shadow of himself and Giselle in them; a marriage that is not a happy.
His father and mother were married in business and politics. The Lewis family was in business and Grandpa was in politics. At that time, the marriage between the two was a sensation. It not only achieved the dominance of the Lewis family in business, but also a legend in the grandpa’s political arena.
His father had a lover before marriage, so he was unwilling to marry his mother. This is very similar to his marriage with Giselle.
This unwilling marriage with Giselle was the main reason for his disagreement with his father and even hatred for his father. The father himself had experienced such a loveless marriage, but he forced his son to marry a woman he did not love. How couldn't he dislike his father?
But on the other hand, he was benevolent to the illegitimate child. For so many years, he had kept their mother and child well-clothed and fed abroad without telling his mother. Because the illegitimate child also fell in love with Pia, he did not hesitate to separate him from her and used means to force her.. Pia stayed together with the illegitimate child.
How can such a father who has never thought about him win his respect and love?
Therefore, even this resentment towards his father was naturally passed on to the perfect daughter-in-law Giselle who was sensible and obedient in his father's eyes.
He drove all the way back to the old house and when he was parking in the parking space, he saw the woman rushing back. James felt angrier for a while, stared at the woman who just got out of the car and looked at her with disgust. The cheap clothes that he didn’t know where she got, gritted his teeth and said,
"What a good thing you did?!"
Then he heavily slammed the door and turned to leave.
Giselle, who had just got out of the car, stood in front of his car, facing his anger and somewhat speechless.
Just now, she was desperately planning to make a resume for herself, but when she received a call from Faith, saying that her mother-in-law was going to divorce her father-in-law, so she hurried back.
Faith said that because she was about to divorce James, it affected her mother-in-law and was also angered about the divorce.
After all, this incident was due to her, so when James was angry at her just now, she was speechless.
It was indeed a good thing she did.
Hey, she didn't expect things to happen like this, her mother-in-law Teresa has always been a gentle and virtuous woman in her eyes. She didn't expect her mother-in-law to file a divorce. It's definitely such a shocking thing.
James and Giselle entered the house one after another. In the luxurious living room, Faith stood on the side with a crying expression, while Teresa stood beside the suitcase with a faint expression, and Logan was pulling her arm to keep her from leaving. His face was full of distress,
"Teresa, we are all very old. Why do we need to take this step? Can we talk about it?"
Seeing James and Giselle coming in, Teresa took a look at them, then took a step back and got out of Logan's palm.
Teresa wore a modified knitted dress, stood there quietly, looked around them, and then spoke,
"Since the children are back, it's just right. Let's say everything in one go today."
"Teresa--"
Logan didn't want her to continue this topic, but she continued to speak with determination.
"When I learned that you kept your mistress and child abroad without telling me, all I had for you was disgust."
Her opening line made Logan's face a little ugly. She looked at him with a calm tone.
"Later, I comforted myself that you had children. That was your past. It was your responsibility to raise them, so I don’t mind. However, for the so-called make up, James let the girl he likes for his child and from that moment, I gave up on you."
When Teresa said these things, she always spoke softly, but they sounded enough to cause Logan a heart ache.
"The reason why James has come to the point of divorce today is also because of you. You have married me, a woman you don’t love, so you should know. Why did you force your son to marry a girl he doesn't love?"
It is said that women are weak, but mothers are strong. Only when she mentioned her son’s failed marriage, she felt a little bit of hatred.
"Do you really enjoy to torture my son like this?"
