Chapter 53: The Heavy Rain

After thanking Aristine, Alison used the handkerchief to wipe the rain from her face. “Alright, let’s not stand here anymore. Let’s get in the car,” Aristine suggested again. Alison didn’t refuse and nodded in agreement. She knew that catching a taxi in such bad weather was impossible, and the subway station was still a long way off. Walking there would surely make her sick by tomorrow. With umbrellas shielding them, they walked towards Aristine’s parked car. As they covered the short distance, a luxurious, understated SUV drove past them with its windows down, giving a clear view inside. Alison glanced over and instantly saw Oliver and Jenny. The two were entangled in a passionate kiss, Jenny’s blouse wide open, revealing more than Alison wanted to see. Oliver’s hand was tightly wrapped around Jenny’s waist. The sight made Alison feel nauseous. She took a deep breath, forcing down the bile that rose in her throat. She muttered to herself, “Worse than swallowing a cockroach.”
