Chapter 25
After much thought, Irene decided to leave Sam on the seventh floor.
She did not know Sam that well. Eighteen-year-old Irene might have been smitten by his looks and taken him in, but she was twenty-three and past that now.
Since Jenny and Paulette were both about to move to the ninth floor, that meant the seventh floor would be left empty. Sam could stay here and recuperate.
At most, she would leave some food here for him, so he would not starve to death when he woke up. It was her way of repaying his kindness for saving her.
Besides, he was so seriously injured that she could not even be sure if he would wake up.
The entire city was out of power. In this high temperature of more than seventy degrees Celsius, the house was practically a sauna.
Fortunately, the water had not stopped running yet. Irene and the others took turns going to the bathroom to wash up, and they even helped the unconscious Sam cool down a little.
