CHAPTER HUNDRED AND TWENTY-TWO MORE LIKE IT
JADE’S POV
He knew what he was doing, didn't he? He was aware that no matter what he said, I would still be anxious about this activity, so he did what he could to distract me from it and hopefully take away all my worries. It worked though, because in a way, feeling his lips against mine provided me with a warmth I didn’t realize I could have or feel in my current situation, and now I feel slightly better about it all. Maybe he was right, and it wasn’t as bad as I pictured it to be. Attempting something probably wouldn't have resulted in any enjoyment, but that's probably okay.
With that conviction, I head inside and follow the crowd of people into an auditorium-like place where I see people who have already started settling down, so I hurry to do the same as quietly as I can. I find a few empty chairs at the extremes and sit down on one of them before looking around to see how things are now.
