CHAPTER 221 SURPRISE SURPRISE

The thought of Claire’s freedom was within sight but out of reach. How was she going to do it with guards stationed at the room's door and a nurse coming in every thirty minutes to check up on her? If she unlocked herself from the bed now, there still wasn’t much to do; rather, it’dl would do more damage than good to her situation. Claire felt defeated at most, even at Magnus’s dungeon; she didn’t feel this way. At least she knew how to handle it, whereas, with Hudson, it was totally different and beyond her. Others will say, ‘Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know,’ but in Claire’s case, it was the opposite. Because this was something within reach to do yet so painstakingly unattainable. The confines of the white room were not helping either; at least she had Anya and Declan during those tumultuous times. Now, she’s all alone, lying on her side in that room, her eyes fixed on the door. It has been a whole day since Hudson last came to see her. Not that she wa
