Hudson sat in his chamber, his mind a chaotic mess of frustration and exhaustion. He couldn’t shake the feeling that this was not under control, that something was slipping through his fingers for the first time. He had done everything to keep Claire safe, to protect her from the dangers outside. Yet, the more he tried to control the situation, the more she resisted him. His mate didn’t want to be around him, and he couldn’t understand why Claire couldn’t see that he was doing this for her and their child. Her defiance and constant attempts to escape were taking him to the edge. He felt that at any moment, someone would walk through those doors and tell him she had escaped. Just the thought of it was making him go insane wit
