Chapter 42 FORTY-ONE

ARLEIGH'S POV Laurent let me walk alone when I said I need it. After they all made sure that there are no more vampires in Great Oaks and that the barrier is stronger than ever, I felt safer. I guess Laurent felt the same when he let me walk alone. I wouldn't have to worry about some random vampire appearing in front of me and then taking me somewhere. At least that's just for now. I am certain they are going to find a way with the looming war with the vampires. It is indeed obvious that the vampires are preparing for war and the barrier hopefully buys us time to figure something out. The question that bugs my mind is where should I stand. I am a vampire in the den of wolves. If I wasn't Arleigh Hawthorne, would they have let me live? If I was an ordinary person, would the wolves have let me live as a vampire? If I were to choose, I would gladly die. I don't want to live as a vampire. But would they hesitate to end my life if I was just some random person that happened to be unfortunat
