Chapter 105
Mom finally realized she had touched my wound and instantly jumped back as if she had been electrocuted.
"CeeCee, are you okay?"
I shook my head and reassured her softly, "I'm fine, Mom. There were just a lot of bugs and wild animals in the mountains, and the paths were slippery. I got a small scratch. It's nothing serious."
Mom's gaze remained full of worry. "That's terrifying. Why do they always send you to do such dangerous work? CeeCee, what exactly does your company do? Aren't you supposed to draw for people? Why is it so dangerous?"
It was true. I was an illustrator. However, I wanted to develop my skills in more ways than one. Being a good artist wasn’t enough. I needed to grow my business acumen too.
I refused to spend my life doing entry-level work. Besides, this data-gathering trip let me experience the beauty of nature firsthand. Nature's wonders were far beyond what people could have imagined. This trip would ensure I'd remain an essential collaborator with Forgebound.
