Chapter 3: The Wicked Complain First

The louder Leila shouted, the more it echoed through the neighborhood, causing the dogs to start barking. A patrolling officer quickly recognized Leila and rushed over. "Ma'am, what's wrong?" Leila, with reddened eyes, screamed, "It's him! He hit me and tried to kill my son. Arrest him!" The officer glanced at Danny, noting his modest attire and assuming he had no connections. He immediately barked orders, "Hands on your head and get on the ground, or I will take action!" Danny shot the officer a defiant look, then smirked coldly. "What crime have I committed? She's lying to cover her own misdeeds. You really can't tell right from wrong." These people loved to bully others using their power. They knew Leila was wealthy and influential and dared not offend her, but Danny wasn't one to be easily bullied either. Having endured for so many years, it was time to be himself again. Seeing this, Leila fanned the flames. "Look at him; he isn't afraid of you at all. People like him are maniacs and should be put down immediately." Surprisingly, the officer nodded in agreement, as Danny's defiance challenged his authority. "I'm arresting you for disturbing the peace!" The officer even drew his gun, startling Danny. "Hmph, you mutt, dare to mess with me?" Leila looked smug, and the officer approached Danny menacingly. Suddenly, a woman rushed in, positioning herself between Danny and the officer. "Stop! Do you all have a death wish?" Before she finished speaking, several luxury cars pulled up beside her, and a group of men in black suits got out. These men were strong, wearing sunglasses, and stern-faced. Their clenched fists indicated they were not to be trifled with. Danny was utterly confused. The woman had an impressive figure, her curves drawing all attention even from behind. She turned to Danny and bowed. "Mr. Danny, I'm sorry you were frightened." Her low posture revealed her undergarments to Danny. Large! Really large! Danny scratched his head, unable to recall knowing her. "Do I know you?" "Mr. Danny, my name is Natalie. Grandpa Benjamin sent me to fetch you. He needs your help." Danny blinked, realizing this Benjamin must be his father's friend. So this stunning Natalie was his granddaughter? She looked excellent, but unfortunately, his brother wouldn't get to meet her. The officer was taken aback. Although he hadn't seen her in person, Natalie's name was well-known. Rumor had it that Natalie was the general manager of Kings Group in March City. Even the mayor had to make an appointment to see her. Moreover, Natalie's background was so strong that even state officials dared not provoke her. It was unbelievable that she would be so humble before this young man. Who was he? Seeing the officer hesitate, Leila was infuriated. Not recognizing Natalie, she stormed over. "Danny, you sure can stir trouble, bringing so many people to deal with me. Is this your kept woman? Hmph, she reeks of cheap perfume." As soon as she finished, one of the men in black turned to Leila, and Natalie frowned. "Who are you?" "Me? Listen well, my daughter is Emily, the general manager of Hami Group. You'd better..." Smack! Before she could finish, the man in black slapped her to the ground. "You... you dare hit me?" Natalie, unfazed, looked down at her. "Who did you say you are?" "You all have a death wish! My daughter won't let you off. She will..." The man in black grabbed her hair and slapped her again, making her nose bleed. Natalie tilted her head. "Who did you say you are?" Each word felt like a knife stabbing into Leila's chest. Terrified, Leila glanced at the officer. "Are you blind? Arrest them all, or I'll file a complaint against you!" The officer wasn't foolish. If even the mayor couldn't provoke this woman, why should he? Natalie turned to Danny and respectfully bowed again. "Mr. Danny, should we punish this woman further?" Danny thought for a moment and shook his head. Even though Emily was his ex, her mother and he had lived under the same roof once. There was no need to be merciless. "If that's the case, please get in the car, sir." As the cars drove away, Leila finally dared to get up from the ground, muttering, "Adulterous couple, you won't die peacefully!" Luke, meanwhile, was fixated on the departing vehicles, deeply attracted to Natalie's beauty, entirely oblivious to what had just transpired. "She's stunning." Luke sighed. At that moment, Emily and Anthony came out. Seeing the scene, they rushed over to help Leila up. "Oh my God, what happened to you?" Seeing her daughter, Leila burst into tears, pouring out all her grievances. "Daughter, that useless Danny had people beat us up. So many people came, we almost died." "This..." Emily couldn't believe her ears. Though she looked down on Danny, she didn't think he would do something like this. Besides, if he hated anyone, it should be her, not her mother and brother. Seeing Emily's silence, Leila leaned in closer. "Look at my face and hair. They beat us up. Look at your brother's stomach. Danny wanted to end our family line." She nudged Luke. "Yes, yes, it's all Danny. He's a jerk. You were right to break up with him." "Mom was just trying to reconcile you two, but he was ready for this." The mother and son sang the same tune, turning black into white. Now that the officer and the men in black were gone, they could say whatever they wanted. Leila's real injuries made Emily believe them. "Danny, you're so ungrateful. If that's how it is, don't blame me for being ruthless!" Meanwhile, the car arrived at a high-end hospital, and several doctors came out to greet them. "How is he? Has he eaten?" Natalie asked anxiously, but the doctor shook his head. "He ate a little but threw up. His blood pressure is dangerously high. I'm afraid..." The doctor couldn't finish, and Natalie rushed upstairs. On a luxurious hospital bed, Benjamin was undergoing a check-up. He looked terrible, pale, and weak, struggling to breathe. "Natalie." Seeing his granddaughter, Benjamin reached out. "Where were you? Send them all away. I just want you here." Natalie smiled and knelt by the bed. "I had some business to take care of. Grandpa, there's hope for your illness. I found a miracle doctor." She pointed to Danny standing nearby. Danny glanced at Benjamin, making a quick judgment. The old man was seriously ill, unlikely to survive the night. "Who is he? Which hospital is he from?" Benjamin looked confused. He knew all the senior doctors, but this young man was a stranger. Natalie introduced him happily. "He's Danny, the miracle doctor I brought." Hearing this, Benjamin coughed up blood. "Get out! Get him out! I don't want to see him!"
