Chapter 16

Liam I dressed up for dinner with one goal in mind and that is close as many deals as I can, the only reason I endured these three days is that I want my company to be untouchable, the more deals I have, the more the connection and these connections goes a long way. I finished dressing up and as if on cue Laura knocked on the door, I took my phone and left the room. "Laura, tell one of the hotel attendants that I want a shot of Tequila after the dinner party," I said trying my best not to stare at her. "Yes sir," "Don't leave my side tonight unless I tell you to, okay?" "But you told me to tell one of the hotel attendants that you want a shot of Tequila after the dinner party," "Forget about it," I said and she frowned, I almost chuckled at the sight, she looked very cute in the short blue gown and blue heels, I didn't need to touch her hair, I knew it was soft, memories from the night she spent in my arms swept in making me feel hot. "If we don't leave now we are going to arrive at the dinner party later than everyone else," she said and I nodded. We got there and I set into action immediately, I started talking business with influential CEOs that I know collaborating with them will do my company much good, I was able to convince most of them without making it sound like they were doing me or my company a favor. We had dinner and after dinner, I continued closing deals and helping other CEOs see what they can benefit from collaborating with me. I was on my way to join a group of top CEOs discussing when someone tapped me from behind, I turned to see Amanda, a top female CEO who I was not even considering collaborating with because of our history. "Liam," she said smiling and I smiled too, it is a fake one but I'm not sure she noticed. "How are you doing Amanda?" I asked extending my hand for a handshake but she hugged me instead. "I'm doing great, it's been a while," she said releasing me. "Indeed," "You didn't call me after that night, I tried reaching you but it seemed like you didn't want to talk to me," she said and I looked at Laura unable to talk, I was hoping she didn't hear anything Amanda said but who was I kidding? She was standing right beside me. "Who is she? One of your girls?" Amanda asked shamelessly staring at Laura, I was going to say something like she is my date but Laura responded faster. "No, I am his help," she said taking two steps back. "Personal help? Come on, I'm sure he has gotten under your skirt already," she said taking two steps forward, it was obvious Amanda was not happy to see Laura with me hence the harsh words, I was going to stop her from saying anything else but Laura beat me to it again. "Too bad we are not the same people, he has been under your skirt doesn't mean he has been under mine," she said and her eyes met mine after, she looked like she was trying to tell me she did something bad so I gave her a light smile to encourage her. "Liam, I think you should teach your maid how to respect people that are well sought after and more influential than her," Amanda said looking directly at Laura. "Well sought after? I believe we all know cheap products attract more buyers, good day Miss Amanda," Laura said then she walked away, I was speechless but very proud of her. I looked at Amanda who was red in the face, I'm not sure if it was out of anger or humiliation and I didn't wait to find out. "Um, I'll see you some other time," I said hurrying towards the direction Laura went. I found her drinking a cup of juice, I was enchanted by the view, I stopped several feet away from her and admired her, she looked really pretty in the blue gown and blue heels she was wearing, the only adornment she had on was a silver stud that glittered whenever she turned certain directions. I was still enjoying my view of her when one of the CEOs walked closer to her and started a conversation with her, I was angry not at her or the CEO but myself, I should have known she was too pretty for those greedy CEOs to stay away from her. I covered the distance between us and I stood beside her. "I thought I told you to stay by my side all night unless I tell you to leave," "You didn't have to tell me to leave, Amanda did that for you," she said glaring at me. "Am I Amanda? Or did Amanda employ you?" I asked getting angry. "You employed me doesn't mean I would tolerate your side chick's insult," she said folding her hands against her chest. "She is not one of my side chicks, who on earth even told you I have side chicks?" I asked getting less angry and more frustrated. "I don't care if she is your side chick or not, I don't care whether you have side chicks or not, all I know is that I won't tolerate anybody thinking you've gotten under my skirt as you've gotten under theirs," she said and I almost laughed, she had no idea what happened that night, I looked past her and I realized the guy talking to her already left. "Go inside my room and bring me a bubble gum," I said and she stared at me in disbelief, I knew she wanted to say something but she went anyways. I was about to go find a CEO to start a conversation with when I heard someone call my name, someone I always try to avoid at all cost, someone whose voice I'll be able to tell apart even amid a thousand people, David Smith. I turned slowly to face him, I don't know the reason, I just don't like him, especially his weird voice. "How are you doing David?" I said making sure he noticed how uninterested I am. "Doing good and I will be doing better when you tell me who that girl is," he said and I felt the rational wires in my brain disconnect. "Not someone you should know," I said and I left before I did anything crazy. I continued conversing with other CEOs and I was proud of myself because I was able to convince most of them. The dinner party was coming to an end and I realized Laura had been gone for over twenty minutes, I looked around the hall but I couldn't find her, I was about to go and check for her in my hotel room when I saw the guy talking to her earlier entering the hall, I walked up to him quickly. "Um hi, the lady you were talking to earlier, have you seen her around since then?" I asked hoping he did. "Yeah, I saw her with David Smith walking towards the pond behind the hotel," he said and my heart skipped two beats, I ran out of the hall without thanking him for the information. I didn't need directions to the pond, I knew exactly where it was and I ran there with my heart pounding in my ear, I was lucky enough to get there just in time to see David Smith push Laura into the pond.
