Chapter 5 Awake
Charlotte.
The next day, I felt a hand circling around my waist as I stirred awake. It was strange. It wasn't like I had a boyfriend who would cuddle me or I had slept at Laura's the night before.
Snuggling closer to the hard body, I enjoyed the feel of the body against hers and the warmth that radiated from it. However, the more I tried to get comfortable, the more a stick like something poked me from behind.
“Good morning, gorgeous.” A manly voice from what I suspected to be my dream. Only that it wasn't a dream. His breath fanned my neck and I immediately jumped out of bed.
“Who…. Who are you?” I asked, holding the blanket tightly to my body.
‘Who was this man in my bed? Did a creep break into my house and snuggled into bed with me? Wait! This wasn't my room, and it definitely didn't look like my bed!’
“I am heartbroken. Did you forget about me already?” He faked being hurt and I took a walk down my memory lane.
“Am I supposed to remember you?” I mumbled and I felt a pain between my legs.
Yesterday I went to the club. Okay. Then what after? I drank and danced with a hot guy. Afterwards, I went home with him. And what? I had sex with him. My first time. The dare game with Laura. I had gotten it done.
“You!” I exclaimed, my hands flying to cover my mouth. I could bet recognition was swirling in my eyes now. I had really done it.
“I see you recognize me.” He smiled, wriggling his brows.
My face turned red from embarrassment and I checked if my body was properly covered. If I had found Damian attractive yesterday, I was totally blown away this morning.
Damian propped up his arm and rested his head on his palm as his eyes raked over me. His tousled hair and of course, his icy blue eyes. How could I forget how he had stared at me with those eyes last night?
“I should leave.” I blurted out, unsure of what to say. How was I supposed to face him? It was a night stand, and there shouldn't be any unnecessary familiarity.
“Wait. Just like that?” He asked me, sitting up on the bed.
“Of course.” I eyed him. Was I supposed to stay back?
I heaved a sigh of relief remembering it was the weekend when my eyes strayed to the alarm clock. How could I just be getting out of bed at past 9?
“You can't just leave!” Damian exclaimed, getting out of bed and my head whipped over to him. Why was he sounding like I was doing the wrong thing? “I mean, you should fill your stomach first.” He rephrased in a much calmer tone.
For a few seconds, I watched Damian like he had grown horns on his head. Was he even sure about what he was saying? It wasn't like we had a special relationship or something.
Did I perchance pick a creep or stalker to be my night stand? I was mortified at the thought of him stalking me and maybe blackmailing me. What if he had taken a video of us yesterday and used it as blackmail later? I shivered at the number of what 's running on my mind.
“Well, I think I have overstayed a night stand already. And then waiting to eat? .” I replied to him, trying to hide my nervousness.
Looking around the room, I noticed my clothes neatly folded at one corner of the room. Memories of him taking off my clothes and throwing them on the floor flashed through my eyes and I shook my head to keep them away. I couldn't be having dirty thoughts about me when he was just a few steps away from me.
“Okay. Do you think we can meet up again?” Damian asked and I winced. In as much as his character was tempting, I would be foolish to push for a relationship that had started off based on sex.
“No.” I whispered, my voice quivering a bit. The room felt smaller, and I walked to my clothes and picked it up. As much as I hated to admit it, I was favoring my right leg, and it was proof of what happened yesterday.
‘When had he had the chance to get them cleaned?’ I thought as my hand touched the dress. It was only now I noticed the sheets on the bed were different from the one I had seen yesterday. He changed the sheets.
●“Can you turn the other way?” I asked, staring blankly at him. I should change out of his shirt and go my way.
“What do you mean, gorgeous? I saw everything yesterday. Did you forget?” He teased with a smirk on his lips and my hands flew around my body. I hated the fact that he was right.
Huffing, I turned away from Damian and undid the shirt's buttons. Afterwards, I stepped into the gown and tied the knot behind my next instead of the back. Then I took off the shirt and folded it.
“Are you leaving already?” Damian asked as I turned to face him.
“Yes. I believe there's no reason for me to stay any longer.”
“I guess. How about I drop you off at your place?”
I was walking towards the door when Damian suggested this, she o stopped abruptly. Drop me off at home and risk him knowing my address? No way.
“I think it is high time we drew the line here. You don't have to drop me off.”
If Laura were here, I knew she would make a comment about me switching to my professional voice.
Laura always claimed I had two voices. She called one my professional voice, and for the other voice, she called it my normal voice.
Laura believed I alternated between the two voices based on the situation and what was happening at the moment. Hearing how my voice was firmer now, I believed I had switched to my alleged professional voice.
“Fine.” He huffed. “Take this with you.” He handed me a coat. “You shouldn't go outside looking like that. It would definitely attract attention. You should cover up with this.
My eyes caught my reflection in a standing mirror, and I understood what Damian meant. I looked like a slut in the short, flimsy gown that was around my body and the heels I had on.
The clothes were meant for clubs or going wild, and wearing them during the day would surely attract attention. Either from perverted or judging eyes.
My cheeks flamed up with embarrassment, and through the mirror, I saw Damian wink at me with a shrug. Though I knew he was right and didn't want to fall victim to any of the numerous thoughts in my head at the moment, I wasn't going to give in that easily. It was better we smoothed things out now.
“You shouldn't worry about that.” I bit on my lower lip lightly as I pushed the coat back into his hand.
“I insist.” He pressed, draping the coat over me.
“Thank you for your kind gesture.” I mumbled as I took the coat from him.
I needed to leave right away. Him being so close to me was doing things to my head, and his scent filled the whole room. I had to leave before I did something silly like take up his offer for breakfast just to spend more time with him.
“Then, if you would excuse me.” And I stepped out of the bedroom into the living room. It wasn't any better than the bedroom. His scent was all over the place. Well, it wasn't like I had a choice. I was in his condo after all.
Fishing out my phone from the bag, I ordered for a taxi and stepped into the compound. The building was magnificent, but I didn't have the luxury to look around. My situation wouldn't allow it.
“Wait. I should get the door for you.” Damian breathed out, coming after me. The taxi had arrived, and I was close to putting everything that had happened in the last twelve hours behind me.
“Call me. Maybe.” Damian asked, slipping a card into my right hand as I settled in the taxi. “And happy birthday, Charlotte.
“Thank you.” I squeaked, my voice thick with emotions. He remembered.
However, we both knew I wouldn't be doing my calling. His hope was a faint one.
