I wasn't one to believe in prophecies. Heck, if you told me something was going to happen in the future, I definitely wouldn’t believe you. But I should have listened to that lawyer guy. Hanky Panky? Was that his name? No, Hank. That was it.
I bit my lip as I remembered, tearing off a small piece and taking it as a trophy for finally recalling. This was all his fault. He just *had* to open his mouth and say it, and now I was jinxed. And so was Richard.
Pacing—actually, losing weight from pacing—had become a testament to my stress. That, and the never-ending lullaby of my buzzing phone, constantly ringing with calls and messages from anyone and everyone who wanted a piece of us. Most of them I didn’t answer. In fact, I had hired a new personal assistant just to keep the phone away from me. Unfortunately for the poor boy, I’d already forgotten his name.
