Chapter 1

Everyone said that I was a wench who liked to fool around with men. But I, Evelyn Monroe, had fallen in love with someone, and everyone in Oshire was waiting for me to make a fool out of myself. However, no one expected that I would hook up with the most noble man in Oshire after I was dumped by a womanizer at the banquet. The man I hooked up with was such a perfect husband, yet he had a critical flaw. … The banquet hall was brightly lit, filled with the fragrance of fine clothes and elegantly styled hair. It was crowded with people. In the southeast corner, Oliver Langston was embracing a beautiful woman while chatting with her. He didn't notice Evelyn, who was walking toward him. "Oliver, I heard your wedding date with Evelyn has been fixed. Congratulations!" "I didn't say I was going to marry her. She fools around with many men, yet she wants to settle down. She can dream on." Upon hearing that, Oliver's friend was stunned. "Didn't you pursue her for several years?" "It's just an act." Oliver rubbed the woman's waist, unbothered. "I don't want to marry a woman who has slept with many men." Evelyn didn't expect Oliver to think of her in this manner. He had always shown deep affection and loyalty to her. Even though she didn't like him a lot, she was serious about the relationship. She even took the initiative to announce the engagement this time. She didn't expect that she, who had always been the one who dumped people, would be dumped by someone one day. A man noticed Evelyn and quickly hinted at Oliver. Oliver then turned around. When he saw Evelyn, he panicked. Soon, he regained his senses and became indifferent again. "Since you've heard everything, I'll be frank with you. I called you over tonight not because I want to announce the marriage. It's because I want to break up with you. Eva's pregnant with my child. I need to be responsible for her." Everyone had their gaze on them. Some of them were shocked, but most of them had mocking expressions. It was a huge deal for Evelyn to be dumped by a man. With Evelyn's bad reputation, she was lucky to be favored by the Langston family of Oshire. Who else would want her but Oliver? Who cared if she was gorgeous? She was still dirt that people stepped on in the end. Evelyn was calm. She didn't have any reaction. She looked around the venue, and her gaze landed on a handsome man in the corner. It was Jasper Richmond, a wealthy man in Oshire, who was cold and aloof. The Richmond family had a century-old foundation and had the highest status in Oshire. Even the Langstons needed to respect the Richmonds. Evelyn walked over to Jasper. She wore a champagne-colored dress, showing her long and slim legs. She had a graceful and elegant figure. She exuded a strong demeanor with every movement she made. Her facial features were exquisite as well. Jasper looked at her calmly, as if he were figuring out what she wanted to do. Her fingers wrapped around his tie, rolling it up. Meanwhile, he narrowed his eyes but didn't move away. Evelyn approached him and said, "I actually fancied you first, but I couldn't handle Oliver's pestering. Now that we've broken up, can I pursue you?" Oliver was the first person to be anxious. He jumped and raised his voice. "Evelyn, are you insane? You shouldn't go to Jasper to save your reputation. He's my friend. Why do you think he will help you?" Evelyn ignored him, treating him as a barking dog with rabies. She continued to stare at Jasper, waiting for an answer. Jasper raised his eyebrows, seemingly interested in the situation. He smiled and said, "Sure. You can pursue me. You can just ignore him." At that, the entire venue was in an uproar. Even Oliver, who was so confident previously, was dumbfounded. Actually, Evelyn wasn't confident that Jasper would put on an act to help her. After all, the Langston and Richmond families had known each other for a long time. It was highly likely that Jasper would reject her, and she would be humiliated. Nevertheless, she didn't care. Anyway, she had already been humiliated many times. She decided to ask Jasper out because she wanted to vent her anger. She was angry that Oliver had played her. Then, Evelyn let go of Jasper's tie and was planning to leave. However, he wrapped his arm around her waist with his hand on her back, pulling her back. With a husky voice, he asked, "Didn't you say you're going to woo me? Are you leaving just like that?" Evelyn frowned. Why was Jasper not playing by the rules? He was even more direct than she was. Although she said she was going to win him over, she didn't say she would do it right now. Nonetheless, as she was still in front of him, she needed to continue the act. She placed her hand on his chest and said shyly, "There are too many people here." "Alright, then. Let's go to a place that has no crowd," Jasper responded without hesitation. Evelyn was surprised by how easy it was to talk to him. With his arm wrapped around her waist, he walked out of the banquet hall under everyone's gaze. Oliver's shouts sounded from behind, but Jasper ignored them. When Jasper and Evelyn had just exited the banquet hall, Oliver caught up to them. "Jasper, this joke has gone too far." Jasper turned around and looked at Oliver calmly. "Aren't you just playing with her? You were in the wrong first. You shouldn't blame others. I'll take her with me now." Then, he went downstairs with Evelyn. Once they left Senway Tower, he stood at the entrance and started smoking a cigarette. Evelyn felt a bit uneasy. "Mr. Richmond, thank you for helping me back there." Whether in terms of appearance or character, Jasper perfectly matched Evelyn's taste. When she had first met Jasper and Oliver, she was indeed more interested in the former. If Oliver hadn't announced that he was going to pursue her, the people around him wouldn't have avoided her. Perhaps she would actually woo Jasper. Jasper huffed out a puff of smoke and looked at Evelyn. His affectionate eyes seemed to whisper silent words of love. "Do you really want to chase after me?" "Maybe I can give it a try. I haven't met a man whom I've failed to win over." Jasper chuckled. It was unknown if he thought she was a joke or if he found her funny. "It's difficult to win me over." "I don't care about the difficulty." "You should show me how sincere you are first." Evelyn looked at him, confused. 40 minutes later, she found out what Jasper meant by that. He had brought her to a hotel. When both of them were lying on the bed in the hotel room, she felt dizzy. What was going on? She had never heard that when pursuing someone, one needed to start by having sex to show one's sincerity. The order didn't make sense. When Evelyn had finally returned to her senses, they were already on the bed. There were a few wrinkles on the clean bedsheet. It looked like blooming white flowers. Wasn't Jasper supposed to live a quiet life, not indulging in lust or desire? Why did he seem to be more open-minded than her, who was a wench? To be frank, Evelyn was still a virgin. Jasper was the first person. Halfway through, he seemed to have noticed this problem. His surprise was obvious. "Why are you…" Evelyn found it a bit embarrassing. She pretended to be annoyed and said, "Are you going to do it or not? If you're going to do it, hurry up. I don't like men who talk a lot when doing this." Jasper raised his eyebrows and put on an indescribable smile. … After a night of passion, Evelyn woke up the next day when the sun was already high in the sky. Jasper was nowhere to be seen in the room. Her clothes were neatly hung on the couch next to the bed. She only needed to reach out her hand to grab them. She remembered that her clothes were thrown on the floor last night. Since they were so neatly hung, Jasper must have cleaned up everything when he woke up.
