Miranda spoke respectfully but Xavier's expression remained displeased.
He picked up her reflection essay and quickly skimmed through it. At least half of it was almost identical to her previous essay.
"Ms. Jennings, why didn't you just copy the last one word for word?" he asked, half amused and half annoyed.
She looked up at him. "Can…I?"
He tossed the reflection essay dismissively onto the table. "Rewrite it," he instructed. He couldn't help but wonder if she thought this was just some school assignment.
Miranda took a deep breath, trying to keep her frustration in check.
Repeating pointless tasks like this grated on her nerves.
"Mr. Schneider, you're doing this just to make things difficult for me," she said.
"Yes," he agreed bluntly.
She was speechless. After a moment of silence, she bent down, picked up the reflection essay, and left his office.
Xavier felt quite pleased with himself.
Miranda spent the entire morning rewriting her reflection essay.
