Xavier seemed to realize that he had crossed a line. Forcing a smile, he turned to Jordan and said, "Apologies, Mr. Hudson. I didn't mean to offend you."
"Yes, yes. I know," Jordan replied nervously. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
Miranda shot him a quick glance. Then, she casually picked up the fruit knife from the coffee table and approached him.
"W-Wait, Ms. Jennings! Please! You said you'd let me go!" Jordan's eyes went wide with terror.
"Mr. Hudson, you're hilarious," she said with a smile as she began to cut through the ropes with the fruit knife. "Are you still all wrapped up in what just happened?" she teased.
Jordan let out a relieved sigh. "Thank you, Ms. Jennings. You truly keep your word."
With that, he quickly got up from the chair. However, his legs buckled causing him to stumble. He knocked over the chair and landed on the floor.
