It was clear that Yovanna and Xavier were having a little spat.
Miranda didn't want to be caught in the crossfire, so she left decisively.
Once outside, Yovanna tearfully said, "Xavy, if you still have feelings for Ms. Jennings, I am willing to give you my blessing."
Xavier raised an eyebrow.
He spun his pen around in his hand, and it finally came to rest on the table.
"That would be splendid." He interlaced his fingers behind his head and flashed an ambiguous smile.
Yovanna turned pale, her tears flowing even more fiercely.
Seeing that Xavier did not appear to be joking, she panicked and rushed over to embrace him. "No, Xavy, I was wrong. I was just joking. Please don't get back with her.
"Weren't you the one who said you liked me the most?"
"Look at how scared you are." Xavier lifted her delicate chin. His dark eyes were impossible to read. "I was only joking, too."
"Xavy!"
She burst into tears.
How could she have been so foolish to say something like that?
