Chapter 23
With her arms crossed, Miranda sat on the coffee table and stared Xavier down. "Are you enjoying it, Mr. Schneider?"
At the equestrian center today, she had finally figured out a lot. Strangely, she owed him her gratitude. They were never meant to be on the same path—forcing them to cross paths would only cause both parties to suffer.
Miranda had committed and been devoted to him for seven years. Though it wasn't easy to erase that from her heart, she could still choose her path ahead.
Regardless of her choice, she couldn't continue drowning in her past and throwing her life away. From now on, she wouldn't have herself wrapped around Xavier's finger ever again.
The best case would be mutual respect. Even if that doesn't happen, she would never be a pushover for him to manipulate.
Xavier sneered menacingly. "How bold of you, Ms. Jennings—where did you learn it? If I wasn't already sick of it, I might even come back for seconds."
"How funny, Mr. Schneider." Miranda plastered a smil
