Chapter 29 A Path Forward

Marcus's leaving was followed by a series of changes for the rest of the week and the subsequent overhaul of ideas. Though it was a rather difficult environment I believe it was also the time when Kai and I could sit back and rethink our priorities. We were now more driven than before to see to it that our school’s expansion reflects the proper values and vision that we have. We also decided to start implementing the Major Change Principles from the ground up; the first measure we took was to post public meetings with the staff, parents, and students. Our goal at this stage was to encourage open discussion and to hear from people their thoughts and opinions while including all the persons in the decision-making process. The reception was palpably positive, and most of the people thanked us for not focusing on the quantitative development of this school.
