Chapter 16: The Cost of Fighting Back
When I pounced on Hank, I didn't dare to hold back at all. Unfortunately, he still nimbly rolled on the ground and dodged my attack. My claws only tore through the clothes on his back. My first attempt ended in failure.
Hank was much more experienced than me. Although he was caught off guard by my sudden transformation, he immediately transformed into his wolf form after dodging my attack.
His dark green wolf eyes flickered with greed and amazement. He didn't seem to be in a hurry to attack. His leisurely appearance made me feel angry and frustrated, but at the same time, a sense of helplessness rose from the bottom of my heart.
I couldn't let this go on without doing anything.
I stared hard, laser focused on the giant wolf across from me and suddenly pounced at it. I raised my left front claw high in the air and grabbed at his neck. Seeing that I was about to attack his neck, I couldn't help but feel overjoyed. However, I seemed to have underestimated his defense.
My claws didn't sink into his flesh as I wished. Instead, there was the sound of metal colliding. I felt that my claws were being weakened by a huge force!
Before I could react, Hank started fighting back. I had no choice but to lean back in order to dodge his fierce attack. The feeling of abundant strength from my transformation was quickly weakening. The familiar feeling of weakness began to spread throughout my limbs.
I started to feel my head spin. I couldn't help but shake my head hard, trying to maintain my sanity. Then, I was thrown to the ground by a huge force.
Hank's hot breath hit my face. I felt that there was not much strength left in my body. I could no longer maintain my wolf form.
Hank did maintain his wolf form. His two front claws pressed my shoulders firmly. The remaining strength I had was completely unable to break free from the restraints. Therefore, after struggling twice, I turned my head to one side and pretended to cooperate.
My right hand slowly reached for the phone not far away while his gaze was focused on my face.
Just a little closer... a little closer… Got it!
"Hank, do you want to be our enemy? If my father finds out what you have done, he will definitely declare war on you!"
I forced myself to calm down and scolded him in order to divert Hank's attention. My hand was hidden in my sleeve as I fumbled around to turn on my phone's contact list and pressed the communication button to make a call.
At this moment, I couldn't help but be glad about my small victory. Although my head felt dizzy, I could still maintain a minute or two of clarity. I could still remember where my contact list was. Moreover, I usually had the habit of keeping my phone on silent mode. Therefore, when I dialed the number, it didn't produce any sound.
However, I soon realized that something was wrong with Hank. The way he looked at me was no longer purely lewd but gradually turned into pure appetite. It was the way a carnivore looked at food.
I could no longer stay sober for a long time. My mind felt as if it was filled with fog or as if I was wearing an iron hat on my head. It was so heavy that I could not even turn my head.
My vision seemed to be filled with colorful illusions. All my senses were gradually leaving me. This time, a huge panic filled my heart.
In a daze, I saw Hank return to his human form. He straddled my straight legs and pressed his body against mine. For a moment, I felt as if countless ants or cockroaches had crawled over my skin. Disgust, hatred, despair, and anger filled my chest in an instant, but I couldn't do anything. At this moment, I hated myself for not being strong enough and for being careless.
In my daze, I felt my hand being held by him. He seemed to have licked the front of my fingers. Only when my hand hurt did my body receive the signal from my brain. Then a layer of goosebumps appeared on my forearm.
Was he sucking my blood?
Through my blurry vision, I could barely make out what he was doing. He was holding my hand and sucking it with a satisfied expression as if he was tasting some top-notch delicacies. He looked like he was enjoying it.
It's better than being raped, I thought.
I had been drifting in and out of consciousness, unable to sense the passage of time. Just as I thought bitterly that I would be sucked dry by Hank and die, I heard a loud bang, and then my neck was gripped tightly by a hand.
"Stop!" Hank growled. "If you take another step closer, I can't say for sure what will happen to this little lamb."
"Hank! Let her go!" It was Edmond's voice!
I suddenly regained some strength and tried my best to turn my head to search for the source of the voice. I saw Edmond standing at the door. It was rare for him to lose his signature smile. His face was dark and his eyes were ruthless as if he wanted to pounce on Hank and tear him apart.
"Don't move!" The hand on my neck tightened as Hank shouted. The lack of breath gave me a clearer mind. A smile then touched my face.
For some reason, I just felt that as long as Edmond was there, I would be fine, even if my life was now in Hank's hands.
"You're so happy that he's here? What a naughty lamb. You need to be punished." I heard Hank's malicious voice in my ear.
What was he trying to do?
The confusion made me panic immediately. I felt the weight on my body disappear, and then I was pulled into Hank's arms.
Hank picked up my hand that had been sucked dry earlier. I instinctively tried to resist what was going to happen next, but my entire body was weak. I couldn't even stand without leaning against Hank.
I watched as Hank stuck out his tongue and licked my hand again as if he was tasting a delicacy. His wet saliva clung where he had licked it.
I wanted to retch out of instinct. It was so disgusting! I couldn't take it anymore! I wanted to struggle and put that hand into the water to scrub it a million times.
"Stop, Hank. If you don't let her go, I'll smash this thing we found in your secret room!"
I heard Edmond say this as Hank put my finger in his mouth again and sucked on the previous wound. I looked at the small glass bottle that had appeared in his hand. It was filled with a beautiful violet liquid. I didn't know what it was, but it was obviously important to Hank because he immediately stopped what he was doing.
"Stop! Don't do that!" Hank ordered.
"This must be very important to you, right? Let me guess, is it related to your medical secrets. Let Liana go, or I'll smash it!" Edmond raised the glass bottle in his hand high and moved to smash it.
"Alright! I'll let her go. Calm down. Don't smash it!" Hank cried out at once. Then, he suddenly pushed me toward the window. I staggered and fell back weakly.
I saw a flash of fear in Edmond's eyes. He casually threw the glass bottle away and rushed toward me, holding me firmly in his strong arms.
My head jerked back and I realized that if Edmond hadn't caught me in time, I might have fallen out of the window.
Thank you, Moon Goddess! Please let this misfortune end as soon as possible.
I leaned affectionately into Edmond's arms and let him run his hands over me to check if there were any other injuries.
The joy and happiness of being saved overwhelmed me. I wanted to reach out and touch his cheek, but my limbs were still weak. I shook my head helplessly and said weakly, "I'm fine... Edmond."
"Hmph! Do you think you can leave this place? In your dreams!" Hank's words sent chills down my spine as he held the glass bottle with both hands and gave me a fierce look. "Edmond, just wait, you will be torn to pieces!" he called out before quickly turning around and leaving.
Almost at the same time, I heard thundering footsteps marching in a hurried cadence coming from outside. I looked to Edmond with worry as it sounded as if an army had descended on us.
