The suggestion hung in the air, heavy and unexpected. Logan felt as if the wind had been knocked out of him. ADHD? His brilliant, vibrant Kayla?
Deonna was the first to find her voice. "ADHD? But she's never shown any signs before."
Ms. Bailey nodded understandingly. "It's not uncommon for symptoms to become more noticeable as academic demands increase. And sometimes, significant life changes can exacerbate underlying issues."
Logan winced at that, knowing full well the 'significant life changes' their family had undergone recently.
"What do you recommend?" he asked, his voice hoarse.
"I think a comprehensive educational assessment would be beneficial," Ms. Bailey replied. "It would give us a clearer picture of what Kayla's struggling with and how best to support her."
Logan and Deonna looked at each other, a silent communication passing between them. Despite their recent disagreements, in this moment they were united in their concern for their daughter.
