Chapter 5 Decided To Find Dad
It made a lot of sense to Nancy. Her mother was always busy with work, so this man might be their father.
"If he’s our father, why hasn't he appeared all this time? Is it because he doesn't like us? But we’re good kids."
Recalling her absent father made Nancy sad. When she went out to play, she always saw other children with both parents.
According to the neighbor, parents loved only well-behaved kids. So, Nancy and Herman were obedient, even though they were young. They hoped their father would see how sensible they were and come back to them.
"Don’t overthink it, Nance. Grandma Helena said we've been here since Mom was pregnant. Dad probably doesn't even know about us, so we need to find him and reunite him with Mom," Herman said.
Despite being intelligent, Herman was a kid and yearned for the love of both parents. He did all he could to find his biological father.
Nancy nodded vigorously. "Look, Hermy, Oli Group. Uncle Kevin said that Oli Group is buying Mom’s company. Can't we use this to find Dad?"
Herman was unsurprised that Nancy knew this because she often talked to Kevin.
Without this information, Herman's investigation would have been difficult. "Then I know how to continue the investigation. Don't worry, we'll have news soon."
Nancy nodded again. The siblings sat together, murmuring and staring at the picture of the man.
Herman wanted to learn more about this man, who could be their father. He began searching for information about Elvis on the web.
Elvis's looks and success was remarkable. The siblings occasionally made astonished sounds as they looked through his accomplishments.
"Even if he's not our biological dad, he can still be our dad, don't you think?"
Julianna was the most powerful person in Nancy's world, so her father also had to be very powerful. If he was not, he would not be worthy of being with Julianna.
Then, they would not continue to search for their biological father but would find a stepfather for themselves instead.
Elvis had left a profound impression on Nancy. While Elvis could potentially be their biological father, considering him their stepfather would not be bad either.
Herman also thought Nancy made a valid point, but they could not make this decision without consulting their mother.
"We can secretly create an opportunity for them to meet.” Nancy swiftly came up with a plan.
Herman said, “That’s a good idea, but we don’t know where he is. How can we make them meet?”
"You're so silly, Hermy. We can go to Grandma Helena for help. She had always hoped that someone could take good care of Mom."
Herman shook his head, disagreeing that involving Helena was a good idea.
"If Grandma Helena finds out what we're doing, she'll tell Mom, and then Mom will be furious. I'll say it was your idea."
"No, it can't be. It was a decision we made together," Nancy said, indignant. If her mother knew it was her idea, she would be very upset.
"What decision are you two talking about?" Juliana asked as she walked in.
She respected the children's privacy and would not intrude if they were in their room. However, as she passed by, she noticed the room door was ajar and overheard the children arguing.
She was worried they might get into trouble, so she entered.
They hurriedly shut down the computer and accidentally bumped their heads. Nancy rubbed her head and glared at her brother.
Herman was speechless at his sister’s carelessness.
"Alright, I'll respect your privacy, but you need to tell me what decisions you've made," Juliana said as she stood by the door.
Nancy rushed up to Juliana. She hugged her mother tightly before sitting next to Herman and rubbing his head.
"Mom, are you going out again today?" Juliana would be away from home three to five days a month. She worked online, so she did not need to go to the office every day.
The kids had grown accustomed to it, and she was due to leave again this month. Juliana could quickly tell that her daughter was trying to change the subject.
Julianna did not push them. She replied, "Yes, I'm seeing Uncle Kevin today to discuss some things. Oh, because the company is being sold, we're going back to Billy City. You'll meet your grandparents."
This was something she had to talk about sooner or later. The news caught the siblings off guard. They had heard that Julianna was born in Billy City, but they had never been there.
They had also heard that Julianna was not happy there. Herman looked at his mother with concern.
"Grandma Helena said you weren't happy living there. Why do we have to go back? Can't we continue living here?"
Juliana knew Helena sometimes told the children things, but she did not expect her aunt to reveal that.
"But we have to go back eventually. If we're unhappy there, we can always move somewhere else."
The twins understood they must leave for Billy City.
