In A Foul Mood
Austyn narrowed his eyes and chewed more slowly.
Then it dawned on him.
It tasted like the food Miss Hewitt prepared for him last night.
Austyn paused.
Did she send this?
He swept his eyes over the box again and noticed something else in the plastic bag, stuck to the bottom of the bento box.
He picked up the postcard-sized envelope.
It contained a handwritten note.
‘It’s lunchtime:-) Don’t starve yourself. Hope you like the food:-) Will send more tomorrow.’
There was no signature.
Austyn frowned.
He wondered what the woman was up to.
Earlier this morning, she’d practically forced a kiss on him and left without an apology.
Was this her way of saying sorry?
The food still smelled delicious, but Austyn had lost his appetite.
He hated it when people played games like this.
If she wanted to apologise, she should say it with words, not food.
He tossed the chicken thigh back into the box and dumped the whole thing into the waste paper basket.
But another bento box appeared on his desk at noon
