CHAPTER SIX – SHOCKING NEWS
A soft beeping sound filled the sterile white room. Madison fluttered her eyes open, feeling a dull ache in her head. The room swam into focus, revealing white walls adorned with framed medical certificates and a vase filled with colorful plastic flowers. An IV drip hissed beside her, the clear liquid slowly making its way into her vein.
She turned her head, spotting a figure in a crisp white coat leaning over a clipboard. The man looked up, his face creasing into a kind smile.
"Ah, you're awake! How are you feeling, Miss Miller?" he asked in a gentle voice.
"A little weak," Madison croaked, her throat dry. "Like I swallowed a cactus."
The doctor chuckled. "That sounds unpleasant. Well, rest assured, the medication should help with that. I'm Dr. Jones," he said, extending a hand.
Madison shook his hand weakly. "Thank you, Dr. Jones."
