Chapter 31
"You don't mind? So, now you're pretending to be magnanimous?" Jameson's voice rose.
He sneered, and his smile was tinged with bitterness as he said, "Wynonna, you've won. She's gone, and she won't disturb us anymore. Can we just go home now?"
A familiar ache throbbed in my chest.
I felt like such a fool. For a fleeting moment, I had actually thought that Jameson had finally realized his mistakes. I thought that he had chosen to trust me over Xandra.
I had actually believed that the Wynonna before the memory loss would finally have a win.
I chuckled bitterly. "Have I won?"
I looked into his eyes and asked again, "Have I really won?"
A faint smile crossed my lips. "You only asked her to leave because you thought that I was being unreasonable. Deep down, you don't respect me, and you don't believe a word I say."
Jameson's eyes narrowed.
I could tell that I had hit a nerve.
I scoffed. "I've already lost everything. Of the three of us, I'm the one who should've left long ago."
