Words caught in my throat, leaving me speechless.
"But my reputation is ruined," I whispered. "I'll only bring trouble to you."
I avoided his gaze, staring down at my toes, yet I could still feel Tristan's eyes on me.
After a long pause, he sighed. "Don't worry about it. Come inside. I'll get you settled."
With that, he turned and walked toward the house. I hesitated for a moment before following him.
The house was quiet, with maids moving about efficiently. Somehow, I found it comforting. Unlike the emptiness of Jameson's mansion, this place was filled with the warmth of everyday life.
The room featured a slightly worn wooden bookshelf, a fireplace with remnants of burnt wood, and a well-kept leather sofa.
