I said nothing. My brain was dizzy and my lower abdomen was in pain. The constant gushing of blood told me that the child might be lost.
How could I put it? I did feel pain, not elsewhere, but in my heart.
That kind of pain was like something stuck inside, making it so I could not breathe.
“Bam!” Curtis got out of bed. Perhaps it was because he did not stand firmly, but he crashed into the chaise lounge chair.
I simply watched indifferently without a word.
He picked up the phone, his long fingers trembling as he swiped at the screen. Only after a long time did he manage to dial a number.
The call was answered quickly and Curtis said with a tremble in his voice, “She’s bleeding. She’s bleeding a lot. I need an ambulance.”
After hanging up, he stumbled into the bathroom and came out with a towel in his hand.
When he came to the bed, he crouched down and began to wipe, but it seemed useless. Blood flowed in a steady stream.
