Chapter 12 The Threat
After hearing those words, Johnson didn’t say a word. Then, he hung up the phone.
Maria looked at her phone, feeling a strange emptiness inside.
Suddenly, Jackson called.
Maria answered, and the voice on the other end sounded anxious.
"Maria, something’s not right."
"What?" Maria asked urgently.
"I heard that the person who pushed Aunt Angela said something to the police, and now the situation is critical. Give me a moment, I’ll figure something out."
Maria responded calmly, "Alright, thank you."
"Yes, I’ll take care of it."
As soon as she hung up, another call came in.
The voice was very familiar.
"If you don’t come to the Victory Hotel by 8 PM tonight, Angela will end up in prison!"
It was Joseph.
So, what Jackson was worried about was actually Joseph creating fake evidence—evidence that could make Angela look guilty.
