Chapter 34
Before Zane could react in anger, I turned and ran.
The prize money was gone, and all I wanted was to get out of there.
I sprinted out of the hotel, and the night wind hit me, chilling me to the bone. I hugged myself, feeling a wave of bitterness wash over me.
Channing soon caught up. He grabbed my arm, grinning. "Ari, don't run off yet. Let's talk it over."
I yanked my arm free and glared at him. "You called Zane here on purpose, didn't you?"
Zane was supposed to be in Ashbourne for work. If Channing hadn't told him I was participating in the dance competition, how would Zane have shown up out of the blue?
When Channing casually asked if I wanted to let Zane know about the competition, I should've known this was his plan all along. But I had been too naïve, too trusting.
I should've remembered that guys like him, spoiled and arrogant, only found joy in toying with others. They were never really going to help me.
Channing chuckled but didn't deny it.
I let out a bitter laugh.
