A faint smile tugged at Gavin's lips, but when he saw Helena's hand resting on another man's shoulder, a shadow flickered in his eyes.
"It's been a while. I didn't expect to run into you here," he said, his tone courteous and gentlemanly.
Helena's expression turned sour. "Well, I didn't want to run into you. I guess I should've checked the weather forecast before heading out. What terrible timing."
Yvette leaned over to Whitney, whispering, "Lawyers sure have a sharp tongue."
Whitney glanced at her and quipped, "You're no slouch yourself." She still remembered Yvette's scathing remarks when she had put someone in their place not too long ago.
As Whitney shifted her gaze, her eyes unintentionally met Noel's. She pressed her lips together and looked away, pretending she hadn't seen him.
