Joe had taught Melina how to live with integrity. Wallace had given her the love and care she'd never had before.

Joseph kept a careful distance, still wary after her earlier attack. "I'll have a few guards go with you to get the documents."
"That's not necessary," Melina replied flatly. "Not just anyone can waltz into Oakread. If you send guards and something goes wrong, I won't be responsible."
