Chapter 37
Given the importance of tonight's event for the Thompsons and Andrew's public declaration as Doria's husband, Henry should've recognized the need to back down. Yet, his arrogance remained undimmed.
"Ms. Collins, theoretically, I should afford you some respect. But your taste in men leaves much to be desired. He just publicly threatened me. If I allow him to walk away unscathed, where does that leave my dignity?"
Even with Doria's intervention, Henry clung to his self-importance, seemingly oblivious to the potential consequences. In truth, he felt invincible. His confidence stemmed from Joshua's clout in Thenswy, believing it was the Thompson family who should fear damaging their relations.
Doria's demeanor grew icy as she addressed Henry, her tone firm. "Mr. Parker, I suggest you consult with your father before causing any further disturbance. Our ongoing collaboration is at stake. While strained relations may be a minor concern, financial losses would pose a significant problem."
