Without hesitation, Layla replied, "It's fine. I'll go with Mark. You don't have to trouble yourself, Mr. Parker."
Reading her message, Seth pinched the bridge of his nose. Every word from Layla felt as cold as ice.
Since they reunited, she'd been defensive, acting like he was the enemy—someone she had to protect herself from. How much pain had she endured to become so guarded?
Seth's lips curled into a bitter smile as he replied, "Alright. I'll send you the address."
That evening, Layla arrived at Elliot's home with Daisy and Mark. As they pulled up to the house, they spotted Seth leaning casually against his car with a cigarette in hand.
