If not for Seth, Daisy would've been a healthy, happy child. Their family of four could've lived a joyful life together.
Layla's chest ached as the weight of it all pressed down on her.
She could move past her pain and choose to ignore Seth, but she couldn't disregard her daughter's feelings.
Gently stroking Daisy's smooth cheek, she whispered, "I know you miss Daddy. But if you're with him, you might not come back to me—just like your brother. He's stayed with Daddy ever since. Would you want that, Daisy?"
Daisy blinked her wide eyes and shook her head firmly at the thought of leaving her mother. Throwing her little arms around Layla's neck, she peppered her with kisses.
Layla smiled faintly, pulling her daughter closer.
Her voice was soft and tinged with sadness. "Sweetheart, I've already lost your brother. I can't lose you too. I promise to give you the happiest life and help you grow up strong. Will that be alright?"
